How To Become A Web Developer With No Code

Have you ever considered leaving a job where you feel undervalued to pursue something new? Do you have the courage to seek out a more fulfilling career? Unfortunately, many people don't take this leap and end up disliking their jobs, believing that work can't be enjoyable. However, with a bit of determination and courage, you can transform your professional life, as our student's success story proves. Read Deborah's story about changing her career one step at a time with no-code development.

Do you, like many others, feel that your efforts at work go unrewarded? It can be disheartening to give all you can only to receive the same paycheck and indifferent treatment from your managers.

You may even begin to wonder if this is simply your reality. However, the good news is that it's possible to break free from this cycle and find a job that not only inspires and motivates you but also compensates you fairly for the work you do.

Our student Deborah went through a similar experience. Her story teaches us to identify our needs and pursue our dreams. For several years, Deborah worked as a sales representative, where she felt undervalued and underpaid.

The job quickly became unbearable, prompting her to seek a more fulfilling opportunity. After taking many graphic design and web development courses and attempting to break into the tech industry, she eventually discovered no-code development.

After a few weeks of the intense course, Deborah consolidated her skills. Now, she’s certain that her career path lies in the tech industry, and she sees herself in this field in the near future. Her story serves as a fantastic example of how to transition from a sales job to tech and pursue your aspirations.

Deborah's Career Journey

Deborah started her professional journey by studying languages in business communication. It was a broad field that allowed her to choose many different career paths after graduation. But because her degree was so broad and not focused on one specific subject, it was difficult to land a job.

So, Deborah decided to deviate from her degree, and after her studies, she started working as a sales representative and customer service consultant for several companies. Although the job was a secure option, at the time, because many companies were looking for customer care attendants and salespeople, Deborah knew it wasn’t the right path for her.

Her first pursuit of starting a career in tech

Deborah's position as a sales representative wasn't paying enough, and she felt unappreciated at work. However, during her university years, she had already set her sights on a tech career.

Back then, Deborah took a graphic design course that taught her the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other digital design techniques, which motivated her to change careers to work as an IT consultant. Although she enjoyed her new job, she knew she had to continue learning to pursue her dream of becoming a web or graphic designer.

Thus, she embarked on a journey to find her true calling. Deborah enrolled in several design courses to deepen her knowledge in the field, aiming to become a front-end developer. However, she struggled to turn it into a viable career path and make a living out of it, as most courses offered long and complicated programs. But right then, her boyfriend found out about NoCode Institute’s Nocode Foundations course and suggested that she apply.

Pursuing a career in web and graphic design through no code

From the beginning of her professional journey, Deborah knew that she wanted to do something with design and visuals, so the Nocode Foundations Program seemed like the right fit.

And she was right. Right from the start, Deborah enjoyed the course. She realized that she had been using no-code tools for a long time without knowing that it was no code. While it had ups and downs, it ultimately opened up a whole new world of no-code technology to her.

She was used to more scripted and structured work, but no-code development and this new learning experience encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone to experiment more, “I had some ups and downs because no code isn’t as easy as it might seem at first. No code is simple if you want to do only the basics using templates. But if we want to showcase our projects and do so much more, we’ll find that it’s very complex, not only drag and drop. You need to work with visuals and know the principles of UX/UI design.”

During the program, Deborah was matched with a real company. She had to build a website for an entrepreneur selling tempeh products (a fermented soy product). It was a challenging experience that taught Deborah a lot. “I discovered that no code is much more. It’s not only websites, it’s also automation, databases, video game designs, apps, etc. So it was like a whole new world to me, and I really enjoyed it.”

But now she knows that no code can be her golden ticket to a new career and life. While still working at her current job, Deborah doesn’t stop learning. She has an ongoing project during which she’s building a photography website for a friend using no-code tools, which was her first project after the program.

But she knows it’s not her last one. Currently, Deborah wants to gain more experience in the field and, maybe in the future, work full-time building and managing websites or even launching her own freelance business.
